ABOUT TRISTAN
TODD
Tristan Todd is a fine art landscape photographer based in Vancouver, British Columbia, specializing in Pacific Northwest rainforests, Coast Mountain landscapes, canyons, and remote wilderness across BC and the rest of Western Canada. His work has been featured in OnLandscape, Vancouver is Awesome, and Inside Vancouver, and on landscape photography podcasts including F-Stop Collaborate and Listen. Tristan sells museum-quality prints and teaches landscape photography through editing tutorials, e-books, webinars, and one-on-one lessons.
ARTIST STATEMENT
"My goal with my photographs is not to strictly document the environment, but also to convey my experiences with it and feelings about it. To help achieve this, I use a variety of post-processing methods to create something that I can call my own. In the past I was more liberal with this process, but over the last few years I've been finding I prefer to do less. Each photograph in my portfolio contains the year to help show my progression as an artist."

BACKGROUND
Through his camera, Tristan learned how to not only see the world, but how to experience it as well. When he was younger, he spent much of his days writing code and exploring virtual worlds, oblivious to the very real and beautiful world around him. Photography has become much more than just pretty photos for him - it helps him connect with nature and expand his comfort zone.

Whether it be for camping, hiking, photography or just about anything else, Tristan's favourite season is autumn. The light is moody and dynamic, the bugs are gone and weather refreshing. But ultimately he loves the unique characteristics of every season, and when the season is changing it means there is something to get excited about.

WHAT TRISTAN PHOTOGRAPHS
Tristan specializes in:

-
BC's coastal rainforests — moss, ferns, old-growth, and the temperate rainforest light of coastal British Columbia
-
The Coast Mountains — sprawling subalpine meadows, wildflower gardens, glacial lakes, misty peaks and ancient glaciers
-
Canyons and waterfalls — slot canyons, river gorges, and crashing cascades throughout BC
-
Remote wilderness across Western Canada — places like the Waddington Range, Homathko Icefield, Nahanni National Park and more

He is a firm believer in trying new compositions and visiting the lesser known places, although he still appreciates the famous icons!
The inspiration for his art comes from many different sources and mediums, from painters to authors and other photographers... and more! Much of his formative inspiration came from Cory Trépanier, Terry Brooks, Tolkien, Marc Adamus, Ted Gore, Ryan Dyar, Artur Stanisz and Adam Gibbs. This is far from an exhaustive list, and many other photographers and artists continue to inspire him with their work and dedication.

"My work is collected by clients across Canada and internationally, and I'm grateful for every collector and student who supports the craft.
I hope you enjoy following along, as I have exciting plans that will continue to push my comfort zone and lead to new places.

Cheers!"
