Spring Showers
My first image after the coronavirus lockdown. There are four key aspects of this scene that I really wanted to do justice to and capture:
-the lines and grooves of the bark
-the water droplets in the grass
-the spiderweb in the back
-the sun
The lines and grooves in the bark are the foundation of the image. Without them, there would be no image. I utilized them both as leading lines and a natural frame to help guide the viewer's eye through the image. The water droplets in the grass and spiderweb, the details, or what I call icing on the cake, help to add much needed depth and dimension. After the viewer makes their way through the image for the first time, they can go back through and take notice of these smaller elements. And of course, the grass also plays a very important role in creating a nice transition from front to back. Now, typically I don't consider the sun itself such an important part of an image, but in this shot it's critical. Its presence provides a final destination for the viewer's eye where there otherwise wouldn't be any, due to lack of background elements. This is a blend of three different exposures - two for focus, one to get the clouds I wanted.
